Quadralite Reporter 180Product description
Reporter 180 is a modern flash combining the output of a studio flash with the mobility traditionally associated with on-camera units. It was designed for professional photographers who need a powerful yet portable light source.
The defining feature of Reporter 180 is its high flash energy of up to 180 Ws. It therefore outperforms even powerful on-camera flashes while approaching the output of small studio units. Despite this power, it remains compact, and its output can be adjusted from 1/128 to 1/1 in 1/3-stop increments.
The flash is powered by PowerPack 45, which provides enough energy for approximately 900 full-power flashes. Two flash units can also be connected to a single power source at the same time—an especially useful option when strong illumination of the scene is required.
Reporter 180 has a built-in radio port for connecting the optional Quadralite Navigator wireless controller. It provides full control of the unit, triggers the flash and allows the settings of a single flash or a group of flashes to be adjusted remotely.
Reporter 180 can operate in stroboscopic mode, firing a sequence of short flashes with a user-defined number and frequency. This mode is useful for time-lapse and motion-sequence photography, allowing the path of a moving subject to be recorded within a single exposure.
As with conventional on-camera flashes, this model also features an AF-assist illuminator. It supports the camera’s autofocus system when low light would otherwise make focusing difficult or unreliable.
A major advantage of the flash is its support for numerous photographic accessories. This makes it a versatile tool capable of producing a wide range of lighting effects. Compatible accessories include light modifiers such as umbrellas, beauty dishes, snoots and softboxes, the Quadralite Navigator radio-control system, lightweight stands and more.
