Quadralite Softbox Octadecagon Focus Para 120cm

Quadralite Octadecagon Focus Softbox Para is a series of parabolic modifiers with a focusing rod that allows the distance between the light source and the center of the reflector to be changed quickly. This makes it possible to obtain different light characteristics from a single modifier. By adjusting the position of the light on the focusing rod, the output can be changed rapidly from harder and more contrasty to softer light, providing precise control with both continuous and flash sources.

The parabolic profile produces a distinctive light character, combining smooth tonal transitions with attractive contrast and easy control over focus.

In the diagram, the curve represents the reflector and its symmetry axis corresponds to the focusing rod holding the light. Light first spreads across the reflective surface and is then directed outward toward the subject. The curvature reflects rays at different angles depending on the lamp position. When the light sits deeper inside the reflector, the beam is narrower and more concentrated with stronger contrast. As the lamp is moved outward, the reflected rays spread more widely and the light becomes softer.

Quadralite Octadecagon Focus Softbox Para uses flexible rods mounted on the outside of the modifier, allowing the front opening to remain very close to a true circle. The Easy Click system makes opening and locking each section faster and simpler, while durable materials help the frame resist deformation. A front Bowens mount is included, allowing the lamp to face directly into the modifier. The lamp support arm sits on a movable frame and can be used much like a boom. With an additional adapter, the lamp can also be mounted at the rear and the modifier used like a conventional softbox.

Octadecagon modifiers use a Bowens lamp mount. Elinchrom and Profoto systems can be supported with an additional adapter available separately.

The modifier features a distinctive shell design: black and red on the outside and lined internally with a special silver reflective fabric that increases light efficiency. Octadecagon also includes an opening for routing cables when the light source is positioned inside.

A diffuser is included with every set. The outer diffuser attaches with hook-and-loop fastener near the edge of the modifier, leaving space to add an optional grid. The 90, 120 and 140 cm versions also include an inner diffuser that helps soften the direct output of the flash tube in the central area.
