Session with Veronica Leahu
My inspiration was Måneskin, the Italian funk-rock band. As often happens when I photograph, the idea came suddenly. I like to be guided by the moment and give models plenty of creative space in choosing ideas, styling and costumes.
I usually give only a few indications about the mood and style I want to create. Veronica arrived with flared trousers and a blazer, which immediately inspired a rock-oriented concept. Rock is my favourite music genre, so I decided on strong contrast and an image that emphasised her moving hair.

For this session I used a Quadralite Pulse Pro X 400 with an 85 cm octagonal softbox and grid. This created stronger contrast, directed the light and highlighted the subject. On the model’s left I placed a 1 × 2 m polystyrene panel to fill the shadows. My assistant Nicola moved air with a reflector to make the model’s hair wave. Lara Guerra, a makeup artist from Padua, was responsible for the model’s look.

The flashes performed extremely well: output was even and predictable. HSS was an important reason for choosing them because strong sunlight entered the room.
Session with Giorgia Boitano
For another session I used two Quadralite Pulse Pro X 400 units. The first, fitted only with a reflector and positioned about two metres high, lit the background; the reflected light became the base illumination for the model’s right side. The second flash used a large 180 cm umbrella to illuminate the left side, fill shadows and reduce contrast.
