Szymon Bialic – impressions of the Atlas 600 Pro TTL
Photographer Szymon Bialic shares his impressions after several weeks with the Quadralite Atlas 600 Pro TTL, tested outdoors and in the studio.

See what Szymon Bialic thinks about the Quadralite Atlas 600 Pro TTL after several weeks of use.

The equipment
Quadralite Atlas 600 Pro TTL is one of the brand’s flagship products and the successor to Atlas 600 TTL. I value reliability, so I tested it both outdoors — the natural environment for the ATLAS series — and in the studio, where cable-free work is especially convenient.
The flash uses high-quality plastics with metal modifier and stand mounts. Its clear LCD remains readable even in strong sunlight.

One of its strongest features is flash consistency. In Colour Mode the colour temperature is maintained at 5600±75K, which is valuable for colour-critical work. Recycling from a full-power flash takes about 0.9 s, making the unit useful for dynamic subjects as well.
Atlas 600 Pro TTL has a built-in Navigator X receiver. I tested it with Navigator X2 and could control the key flash parameters remotely without problems. Group and channel assignment is straightforward on the large display.

Navigator X2 additionally offers:
- ALL function for quick power correction of all flashes,
- modelling-light control,
- TCM for transferring TTL settings to manual mode,
- control of up to 16 groups,
- adjustable transmitter range,
- AF-assist light.
Outdoor work

At around 3 kg the flash needs a suitable stand and ballast, especially in wind. I used a Quadralite Air 275 with a Deep Space 130 parabolic umbrella, which produces very soft, widely diffused light.

Studio work
In the studio, cable-free operation was a major advantage, particularly in a small space. I combined Atlas 600 Pro TTL with the compact Stroboss 60 TTL; triggering and control from Navigator X2 worked flawlessly.

Summary
After several weeks I found Atlas 600 Pro TTL powerful, consistent and versatile. Efficient battery operation and mobility make it useful outdoors, while its wireless system is equally convenient in the studio. TTL works very well, so the flash can suit experienced photographers as well as users developing their lighting skills.
